Rules and Regulations
- This Tournament is an on-line/video Snook fishing release tournament open to any fisherman in the United States of America.
- This is an individual fisherman tournament.
- This is an artificial/live bait Tournament.
- During registration each angler will designate their choice of social media platform, which is limited to Facebook or Instagram
- Anglers will DM all videos to ReleaseRuler. Once Anglers designate their platform they may not change.
- It is up to the individual Angler to ensure their video was uploaded to ReleaseRuler.
- All contestants under the age of 18 y.o. must have guardian approval (Awards will be given to parent or guardian)
- Entry Fee is $75.00 which will include Taxes, shipping is free. (Anglers will receive official Release Ruler Snook Tournament Bump Board)
- The first 50 Anglers to sign up will receive a Release Ruler Huge T-Shirt.
- Anglers must agree to all rules and regulations stated herein. Release Ruler Tournament Committee will have final say with regards to all prizes and awards.
- Anglers will not deface, remove, or tamper with Release Ruler Tournament Bump Boards, which will be subject to inspection before awarded prizes.
- Angler Number will be posted to Release Ruler Facebook and Instagram on May 28th at 12pm EST. Anglers first initial and last name will be posted with Anglers number. Anglers will be required to write their number on the Angler box on their rulers with a black sharpie marker and must be legible. Release Ruler Angler list will be clear and concise any miss numbered Tournament Boards will be disqualified.
- This Tournament is a Release Tournament all Snook must be released healthy to be a valid catch.
- Snook will be based on a one point (blue) 24” to 30” and two points (red) over 30”. There is no largest fish category.
- If there is a tie the last video provided by those Anglers will be posted on the desired social platform for a 24 hour period. The angler with the most Likes will be the winner. If by chance, there is a second tie those anglers in contention there will be a live drawing of the winner.
- Winners will be posted to both Facebook and Instagram social media platforms.
- Winners will be notified by the Release Ruler and arrangements will be made for the awards presentation.
Two Tournament Categories:
Pro/Charter Angler: Anglers who have a U.S. Coast Guard Captains License or Professional Tournament Anglers One winner: $750.00
Weekend Warrior Angler: All other recreational. One winner: $750.00
Best Video: Anglers video that has the most likes will be the winner. One winner: $250.00.
Tie Breaker Rules
If there is a tie the last video provided by those Anglers will be posted on the desired social platform for a 24-hour period. The angler with the most Likes will be the winner. If by chance, there is a second tie those anglers in contention there will be a live drawing of the winner.
- All contestants are required to follow the mandated video requirements of the caught Snook steps 1 thru 7.
Video Requirements
- Video must be continuous without any delays or disruptions displaying the measurement (Release Ruler Bump Board) and the release of a lively Snook. (Snook must swim off on their own with limited assistants). Release Ruler committee will disqualify any video where the Snook does not appear to thrive after the catch. (Anglers will be notified of any disqualified videos)
- Video must display bump board stating Angler #, name, date and time.
- Place fish on bump board with the lower jaw against bump board and the fish laying naturally on the bump board showing the whole fish with the tail (not pinched) marking the total length.
- Angler will give verbal length of the catch and hold the video for the count of 3 before releasing the fish. If the measurement falls on the line Angler will be given one point. Release Ruler will notify angler of the point award.
- The video must show the Snook de-hooked and released into the water and must swim off naturally with no assistance. Anglers may revive catch by forcing water through the gills until fish naturally swims away.
- Anglers fishing from a bridge, dock or embankment will do their best to release the fish headfirst and show the video of the fish entering the water and swimming off naturally. Release Ruler committee will disqualify any video where the Snook does not appear to thrive after the catch. (Anglers will be notified of any disqualified videos)
- Anglers may be videoed by a co-angler or assistant if the catch and release meet the steps stated herein.
Disqualification Policies
- Release Ruler committee will disqualify any video where the Snook does not appear to thrive after the catch. (Anglers will be notified of any disqualified videos)
- Anglers who repost the same video more than once with an obvious intent to get additional points. (if you have an upload issue you can notify release ruler who will give you permission to reload the video so the angler is not disqualified from the tournament.)
- Pro/Charter Anglers who are found fishing in the Weekend Warrior Division. ( Description: sponsorships for professional tournaments and or US Coast Guard Maritime License holder.)
- Anglers who see tournament violations are encouraged to email jt@releaseruler.com to report any offense.
- Disqualified Anglers will not receive a refund.
Release Ruler is proud to host this professional tournament to promote great sportsmanship. Release Ruler reserves the right to disqualify any Angler who damages their catch or displays behavior that is not productive to this great event. Have fun and catch em up!
